Role of Green IP in Sustainable Construction: International and Indian Approach
(Manakin Press, 2026) Gaurav Gupta, Abhimanyu Gandhi
Over the past few years, environmental protection and sustainable development have gained center stage in the echelons of industry, politics, and society. In a study published in 2021 by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), concerns have been raised regarding ‘widespread, rapid, and intensifying’ climate change. From International Conventions to National Symposiums, climate change and sustainability and its dependence on green technologies have become central topics for current consideration. The use of Green Intellectual Property and its regulations in the sector of building and construction plays a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future. It is time to optimally utilize green technology to save the environment for the benefit of future generations. Big Tech and Real Estate companies are focusing on turning their infrastructure and construction eco-friendly and carbon-neutral. This chapter will look at the idea of green intellectual property, its significance in the modern world, and how it interacts with national and international sustainable building regulations. In order to comprehend the idea clearly, the chapter also covers appropriate case examples. It also attempts to address the difficulties experienced by policymakers while adopting policies for green and sustainable living.
