Greener Learning: Harnessing E-Education for a Sustainable Future
    (Book Rivers, 2025) Priyanshi Gupta
In the context of escalating environmental challenges and the urgent need for sustainable development, the education sector must evolve to align with ecological goals. This chapter explores how e- education, encompassing online learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and digital resources, offers a viable and Menvironmentally friendly alternative to traditional education systems. Conventional learning models are resource-intensive, relying heavily on printed materials, physical infrastructure, and daily commuting, all of which contribute significantly to carbon emissions and environmental degradation. E-education, by contrast, has the potential to reduce these impacts through digital delivery methods that minimize paper use, decrease travel-related emissions, and support energy-efficient infrastructures when powered by renewable sources. The chapter highlights several sustainability benefits of e- education, including its role in lowering greenhouse gas emissions, reducing dependence on paper, and increasing educational access with a lower ecological footprint. It also discusses the scalability of digital learning, making education more accessible to remote and underserved communities without the need for environmentally costly infrastructure development. Furthermore, it emphasizes the value of integrating environmental awareness and sustainability content into digital curricula to cultivate responsible, eco-conscious global citizens. However, the chapter also addresses challenges, such as the rise of e-waste, the energy demands of data centres, and the digital divide that limits access for many learners. It underscores the importance of policy support, institutional collaboration, and Minclusive strategies to ensure the environmental and social sustainability of e-learning systems. Ultimately, the chapter argues that e-education is not only a practical response to educational needs in the digital age but also a strategic tool for driving global sustainability. By embracing greener learning methods, educators, policymakers, and learners can contribute to building a more sustainable and equitable future. The chapter concludes by envisioning a future where education is not only universally accessible but also inherently sustainable, aligning technological advancement with ecological responsibility.

Sustainable Educational Practices: Reimagining Learning for a Resilient Future
    (Book Rivers, 2025) Priyanshi Gupta
In an era marked by ecological crises, social fragmentation, and rapid technological shifts, sustainable educational practices have emerged as a crucial paradigm for transforming the educational landscape. These practices aim to cultivate long-term, equitable, and ecologically conscious learning environments that promote critical thinking, inclusivity, and global responsibility. Rooted in the broader context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (quality education), sustainable education fosters the development of learners who are prepared to tackle complex global challenges while contributing positively to their communities. This paper explores the theoretical underpinnings, core components, policy linkages, pedagogical innovations, and real-world applications of sustainable educational practices. Drawing on global examples and national frameworks such as India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the paper highlights how institutions can embrace sustainability through curriculum reform, teacher empowerment, infrastructural development, and community engagement. It also examines the challenges to sustainability in education, such as socio-economic disparities, digital divides, policy-practice gaps, and resource constraints. The study concludes that reorienting education around the principles of sustainability is not just an ethical imperative but a strategic necessity for shaping a more resilient, equitable, and inclusive future.

Voices In The Cloud: Media Narratives And The Evolution Of Speech In Digital Times
    (CIRS PUBLICATION, 2025) Priyanshi Gupta
In the age of digital communication, the boundaries between speech and media have significantly blurred, giving rise to a new form of discourse shaped by technology, connectivity, and algorithmic curation. The traditional modes of storytelling and public speech have undergone rapid transformation, enabling individuals and institutions to craft, manipulate, and distribute narratives with unprecedented reach and speed. Media narratives and speech in digital times represent a dynamic intersection of technology, culture, and power. While the digital era offers unprecedented opportunities for expression and connection, it also demands a critical awareness of the forces that shape our digital conversations. As speech continues to evolve in the cloud of data, algorithms, and global networks, society must grapple with the ethical, political, and epistemological questions it raises. The future of communication depends not just on the tools we use, but on the narratives, we choose to tell—and believe. The digital revolution has transformed how speech is created, shared, and consumed across the globe. From traditional television broadcasts to the decentralized nature of social media platforms, the voices shaping public opinion have multiplied. This chapter explores how speech in the digital era—especially through television, social media, and online platforms— functions both as a vehicle for free expression and as a conduit for hate. It critically examines media narratives in modern communication, their role in influencing perception, and their potential to incite or suppress violence and prejudice. While technology has democratized information and amplified marginalized voices, it has also been weaponized to spread misinformation, deepen polarization, and propagate hate speech. Through a multi- dimensional analysis of platforms, policy, and case studies, this chapter aims to understand the duality of digital speech and propose measures for creating a safer, more equitable communication environment.
