    Mental Health of Transgender Individuals: Challenges, Determinants, and Interventions

    Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being, yet transgender individuals across the world and particularly in India face disproportionate mental health challenges. This paper explores the psychological issues experienced by transgender people, the socio-cultural and structural factors contributing to these challenges, and potential interventions to improve their mental health outcomes. Drawing on recent research, the study highlights high prevalence rates of depression, anxiety, stress, and suicidality among transgender individuals. It also emphasizes the role of stigma, discrimination, lack of access to healthcare, and economic marginalization in shaping mental health outcomes. Furthermore, the paper discusses coping mechanisms, policy frameworks, and community-based interventions such as peer-support models that have shown promising results. The study concludes with recommendations for inclusive policies, awareness, and structural reforms to promote mental well-being among transgender populations.
