Esg As a Transdisciplinary Convergence Point: Pathways to Corporate Sustainability in India and Beyond
(Book Rivers, 2026) Shubham Tiwari, Shujauddin Khan
The growing urgency of global challenges, such as climate change, social inequality, and governance failures, has shifted the focus of corporations toward sustainable practices that extend beyond profit-making. The environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework has emerged as a key mechanism for holistically assessing corporate sustainability. However, the complexities embedded in sustainability issues demand solutions that cut across traditional disciplinary boundaries. This paper explores ESG as a transdisciplinary convergence point by integrating knowledge from environmental science, social sciences, law, ethics, and corporate management. By applying a transdisciplinary lens, this paper illustrates how ESG frameworks can be strengthened through inclusive stakeholder engagement, the co-production of knowledge, and systemic thinking. The study highlights that ESG can only become a meaningful driver of corporate sustainability and contribute to the broader goals of sustainable development through transdisciplinary collaboration.
