    Natural Compounds and Oxidative Stress Management

    Natural compounds and their bioactive derivatives are rich sources of antioxidants, including flavonoids, anthocyanin, polyphenols, lignans, carotenoids, and vitamins. Antioxidants can manage oxidative stress-related infections and chronic inflammation by boosting the immune system. A resilient immune system will neutralize harmful free radicals in our body and reduce their levels. The trigger factor for production of oxidative stress is an imbalanced state between free radical formations to available antioxidants present in the body. Natural plant extracts exhibit multi-therapeutic effects by modulating diverse biochemical pathways. Additionally, the lower toxicity associated with natural products and their secondary metabolites reduces the risk of side effects. Antioxidants can regulate both stress-induced signaling pathways and oxidative defensive pathways. Secondary metabolites extracted from natural compounds exhibit both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Antioxidants’ ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) makes them promising candidates for treating several illnesses, such as neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, and cancer. This book chapter highlights the therapeutic effects ingrained in natural sources of antioxidants and tries to shed light on exploring the exact mechanism behind the therapeutic effects.

The paper explores the effectiveness of the curriculum to promote emotional and psychological well-being and social solidarity amongst school- going children. Using an in-depth scrutiny of the content of the curriculum, its execution, and its results, this paper identifies how a subject like mental health can be incorporated into the school curriculum in a manner meaningful. The study also reflects upon issues and potential in expanding mental health education to other learning systems.     AI ethics in educational domain: An exploration from stakeholders' perspective

    Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the educational landscape swiftly. It’s enhancing the learning and the learning environment. From personalized learning to assessments, AI is being used extensively by the students. It has a significant potential to transform traditional education forever and also to advance the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) of quality education. However, it comes with its own challenges, the biggest one being its ethical implications. Integration of AI in education is revolutionizing learning but at the same time there is a growing concern, particularly among the students because they are the primary stakeholders in this revolutionizing space as they interact directly with the technology. This research explores the ethical implications of integrating AI in education. The study adopts a questionnaire approach where data is collected from the different stakeholders including students, teachers and parents. The findings indicate that all the stakeholders express their concern over the ethical use of AI.

    Legal Frameworks and Judicial Interventions for Third Gender Rights: Analyzing the Impact of NALSA v. Union of India

    India’s diverse cultural heritage and heritage-related history indicates acceptance of gender variation accompanied by social groups for instance transgender engaging in publicly acknowledged functions during early historical society.3 Yet colonial along with modern-era judicial structures suppressed these populations culminating in long-standing bias and exclusion. The Criminal Tribes Act 1871, namely identified third- minority individuals as “stigmatized tribes,” perpetuating social disapproval and surveillance.4 Subsequent to independence, despite the establishment of fundamental law embodying ideals of equality and human dignity, legal recognition of gender-diverse communities remained elusive until litigation or court decisions in the early 21st century. The Constitution of India (1950) formalizes principles of legal equality (Article 14), prohibition against bias (Article 15), freedom of expression (Article 19), and the right to life liberty, and personal security (Article 21).5 However, prior to ongoing court involvement, these provisions were applied through a strictly binary gender model, excluding transgender and gender-diverse groups. Therefore, transgender communities experienced social stigma, restricted educational and employment, and obstacles in accessing legal identification.

    Women in Political Leadership: Representation, Challenges and the Impact of Female Leaders in the Era of Globalisation

    The involvement and acquiring of positions of women in political leadership constitutes one of the key steps made towards achieving gender equality in modern society. In this chapter, an analysis will be conducted regarding women in politics. The chapter focuses on identifying some of the social, cultural, and other barriers to gender equality in terms of women's representation in politics around the world. Despite the positive developments in global affairs related to the role played by women in different processes, there is still much work to be done to ensure gender equality in politics. Women continue to face difficulties in gaining access to certain positions and in taking active part in political decision- making. The chapter provides insight into the role of female political leaders and the importance of women's participation in politics. The role of female political leaders will be analysed in relation to gendered governance and the contribution they can make to different policy priorities, particularly those associated with healthcare and social welfare. At the same time, the chapter considers some of the most important examples of successful women leaders who managed to break through the barriers in the field. Ultimately, it affirms that empowering women in politics is essential for achieving sustainable development, social justice, and equitable growth, aligning with the broader themes of gender and development discussed in this volume.
