Item Greening the Tax System: Rebooting Sustainability(MJS PUBLISHING HOUSE, 2025) Mirza Juned Beg, Mohd Sufiyan Khan, Syedah Fatima Zahara JafriItem Sustainable Educational Practices: Reimagining Learning for a Resilient Future(Book Rivers, 2025) Priyanshi GuptaIn an era marked by ecological crises, social fragmentation, and rapid technological shifts, sustainable educational practices have emerged as a crucial paradigm for transforming the educational landscape. These practices aim to cultivate long-term, equitable, and ecologically conscious learning environments that promote critical thinking, inclusivity, and global responsibility. Rooted in the broader context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (quality education), sustainable education fosters the development of learners who are prepared to tackle complex global challenges while contributing positively to their communities. This paper explores the theoretical underpinnings, core components, policy linkages, pedagogical innovations, and real-world applications of sustainable educational practices. Drawing on global examples and national frameworks such as India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the paper highlights how institutions can embrace sustainability through curriculum reform, teacher empowerment, infrastructural development, and community engagement. It also examines the challenges to sustainability in education, such as socio-economic disparities, digital divides, policy-practice gaps, and resource constraints. The study concludes that reorienting education around the principles of sustainability is not just an ethical imperative but a strategic necessity for shaping a more resilient, equitable, and inclusive future.Item Sustainable Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence(Sandpiper Publisher, Lucknow, 2025) Zeba Aqil , Khurshed Alam , Tahir Hussain AnsariIn 2015, the United Nations set forth an ambitious global agenda with the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a framework of 17 interconnected goals aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all by 2030. These goals present a vision for a future where social, economic and environmental sustainability are in harmony, serving as a universal call to action for governments, institutions, businesses, and individuals. However, as the world moves towards 2030, achieving the SDGs has proven to be an immense challenge. Persistent inequalities, environmental degradation, and global crises such as climate change continue to threaten progress. In this context, the role of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence (AI), has gained attention as a potential driver of innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues. This book, “Sustainable Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”, seeks to explore the intersection between the SDGs and AI. While artificial intelligence is often discussed in terms of its potential to revolutionize industries, this book focuses primarily on its capacity to support sustainable development goals across a broad spectrum of sectors. From combating poverty and hunger to advancing education and promoting responsible consumption, AI offers novel approaches to addressing the complexity of today’s challenges. Each chapter in this book delves into a specific SDG, examining how AI tools and systems can contribute to its fulfilment. At its core, this book is an invitation to consider how AI can be harnessed responsibly and inclusively to accelerate progress towards the SDGs. It encourages readers to think critically about the synergies between technology and sustainable development, while emphasizing the need for a human-centered approach that places the well-being of people and the planet at the forefront of innovation.Item Integrating Sustainable Development Goals with the Management of Natural and Technological Hazards and Disaster Risk Reduction(Willey, 2024) Prateek Srivastava , Ambrina Sardar KhanThis chapter explores the critical need for integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the management of natural and technological hazards and disaster risk reduction (DRR). Natural and technological hazards pose significant threats to human life, infrastructure, and sustainable development. The SDGs provide a comprehensive framework for addressing various societal challenges including poverty, inequality, climate change, and sustainable development. This chapter highlights the importance of aligning DRR efforts with SDGs to enhance resilience, reduce vulnerability, and promote sustainable development in the face of hazards and disasters. It examines the intersections between specific SDGs, such as SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and the management of hazards and DRR. The chapter also discusses the key principles, strategies, and policy recommendations for integrating SDGs into hazard management and DRR frameworks. By fostering synergies between SDGs and hazard management, this chapter aims to contribute to a holistic approach that enhances disaster resilience and advances sustainable development.
