Integrated Pest Management for Sustainable Agriculture
(Book Rivers, 2026) Kalpana Bisht, Sunil Kumar Yadav
Pest management strategies have shifted from the widespread use of pesticides to a holistic approach of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Integrated pest management (IPM) is an important strategy for sustainable agriculture that provides a complete and environmentally conscious approach to pest control. Population- based pest management was first proposed by Geyer and Clark in 1961, who advocated a contemporary approach to integrated pest management that attempts to judiciously combine all available techniques and methods of pest control and minimize pesticide use and ecosystem disturbance. IPM practices involve multiple approaches to pest management, including cultural, mechanical, physical, biological, host plant resistance, and chemical approaches. Under an IPM program, cost savings and long-term sustainability are commensurate with environmental benefits, particularly the reduced use of pesticides and preservation of beneficial ecosystems.

AGRI-INPUT INDUSTRY: SEEDS, FERTILIZERS, AND AGROCHEMICALS
(Stella International Publication, 2025) Kunal Narwal, Srishti Thakur
The agri-input industry forms the backbone of modern agriculture by providing essential inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals, which directly influence crop productivity, profitability, and sustainability. High-quality seeds form the basis of successful crop production, while fertilizers replenish soil nutrients and agrochemicals protect crops from pests, diseases, and weeds. With the continuous demand for increased food production, technological advancements in seed biotechnology, improved fertilizer formulations, and safer pesticide molecules have transformed the global input sector. However, challenges such as nutrient imbalance, pesticide resistance, environmental contamination, and regulatory constraints require efficient and sustainable management. This chapter reviews the evolution, classification, role, challenges, and future prospects of seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals as major inputs in agriculture.
