    ICT in Extension Education
(S.P Publishing, Bhubhneshwar, Odisha, 2023) Akanksha Singh
The chapter provides a comprehensive examination of the profound impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on Extension Education within the context of India. The integration of ICTs has revolutionized Extension Education, facilitating the dissemination of knowledge, skills, and information to empower all stakeholders involved. By transcending geographical barriers, ICTs have established seamless communication and collaboration channels between researchers, extension workers, and farmers, contributing to the advancement of agricultural practices and rural development. Throughout the chapter, various ICT-based initiatives and strategies implemented in Extension Education across India are meticulously explored. These initiatives are supported by successful case studies and pilot projects that demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of integrating digital technologies in extension services. The chapter also thoughtfully addresses the challenges associated with ICT implementation and presents viable solutions to overcome technological barriers and infrastructure constraints, thus ensuring equitable access to extension services for all. Furthermore, the chapter delves into the role of social media and mobile technology as essential tools in agricultural extension work. The utilization of these digital platforms has opened new avenues for engaging with farmers and rural communities, enabling prompt information dissemination and encouraging farmer-to-farmer communication and knowledge-sharing.

Geoinformatics-Based Monitoring of Nutrient Use Efficiency and Soil Health
(Apple Academic Press,Taylor & Francis Group, 2024) P. Smriti Rao, Ashish david, Raghunandan Khatana, Akshita barthwal, Ashima Thomas, Tarence Thomas, Cyril Ashish Thomas
An improved crop research and advisory program includes soil survey. It is a detailed inventory of the area’s soil resource and gives comprehensive information on soils. It provides the data required to plan land-use and soilmanagement initiatives. A database of soil characteristics is obtained using the soil survey report and field samples. The soil survey report is mainly based on a low-intensity survey, but it can be utilized for a variety of planning objectives. Soil analysis, creation of various vegetation indices, digital elevation model (DEM), land use land cover, and many other technologies 200benefit from geographical information System (GIS), remote sensing (RS), photogrammetry, global positioning system (GPS), and other technologies. These tools are important in modern agriculture and aid in the promotion of precision farming. The purpose of geoinformation technology is to collect, analyze, and interpret geographic data. This includes GIS, GPS, RS, and any other new geospatial technologies. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) operates radar pulses to examine subsurface components or the soil substrate. GPR is a non-invasive and cost-effective method of analyzing soil characteristics. The use of GPS technology is then required to link the mapping capabilities with the imagery or data collected on the GPS itself. Handheld GPS is used to collect data such as digitizing borders or identifying prominent landmarks. With the use of GIS software, all of this RS data is mapped and analyzed. Land managers, soil scientists, researchers, and many others can then use these computational models to make well-informed recommendations.

Nanopriming and Geoinformatics: A Combined Approach for Crop Production for Monitoring of Soil Health
(IGI Global, 2023) P. Smriti Rao, Setu Ratnam; Ashish david, Raghunandan Khatana, Akshita Barthwal
A soil survey is a component of an improved agricultural research and advisory programme. It provides in-depth knowledge on soils and a full assessment of the region's soil resources. It offers the information needed to organize activities for managing soil and land use. With the help of the soil survey report and field samples, a database of soil characteristics is created. Although the soil survey report is mostly based on a low-intensity survey, it can be used to achieve a number of planning goals. Geographical information systems (GIS), Photogrammetry, remote sensing, global positioning systems (GPS), and other technologies are useful for analysing soil, creating various vegetation indices, creating digital elevation models, determining land use and land cover, and many other tasks. These computational models can then be used by land managers, soil scientists, researchers, and many other professionals to make well-informed suggestions.
