Item IoT- Enabled Healthcare Systems: Design, Implementation, and Challenges(The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc, 2026) Shrish Bajpai, Divya Sharma, Amit Kumar PandeyIn the past couple of decades, there have been significant changes in the healthcare industry, mostly with the genesis of an emerging technology called Internet of Things ( IoT ). IoT provides a platform that allows people and objects to connect with one another in a seamless manner, thereby enhancing and simplifying our respective lives. This vision takes us from computer-based centralized schemes to a more dispersed environment that offers a large array of applications, including smart wearables, smart homes, smart mobility, and smart cities. The development of intelligent systems that have a high capacity for communication and data collection is made feasible by successive technological advancements. This opens up a number of potential applications for a wide variety of IoT applications, particularly healthcare systems. Although there are many benefits associated with the IoT , there are still a number of unresolved difficulties that constitute the most significant hurdles, including accessibility, portability, interoperability, information security, and privacy. The present state-of-the-art IoT architecture for electronic health records and healthcare systems is taken into consideration in this chapter. Particular attention is paid to the technologies, applications, problems, opportunities, open-source platforms, and operating systems. In addition, this chapter provides a synthesis of the existing body of knowledge and identifies common threads and gaps that open up potentially major future research avenues.Item Comprehensive Study of Wearable Healthcare Devices Using IoT(CRC Press/Chapman and Hall, 2025) Ibrar M. A. Jahan, Archana Yadav, Sarita Kumari, V. R. Balaji, R. SrujanaOne of the most significant aspects of life is being healthy. However, many people continue to lack access to adequate healthcare services. The inaccessibility of hospitals and the limitations of the technologies utilized by the hospitals are the root causes. The Internet of Things (IoT) is currently a highly prevalent and widely discussed topic, offering numerous solutions in various fields, especially healthcare. The IoT can be utilized for the identification of diseases, treatment of diseases, and health monitoring as part of the healing process. The development of wearable devices as part of the IoT to assist people in receiving the appropriate therapy for themselves is rapidly growing. This article presents a review of the wearable devices connected to the IoT to monitor various healthcare conditions ranging from cardiovascular diseases to monitor ECG, BP, pulse rate, and physiological parameters like temperature, respiratory rate, neurocognitive disorders, muscle disorder, and blood glucose level. This chapter also discusses the challenges in using IoT for healthcare and its future prospects.
