Abstract

For thousands of years, Indian civilization has nurtured one of the world’s richest traditions of knowledge. From Ayurveda to Vedic mathematics, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) have contributed immensely to global intellectual heritage. In today’s fast-paced digital world, these ancient systems are often overlooked. However, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a turning point by advocating the integration of IKS into contemporary education. This paper delves into why Indian Knowledge Systems matter today, how they are being reintroduced in modern classrooms, the challenges we face in this process, and how we can overcome them to craft a more meaningful and culturally rooted educational experience.
