Cross-border Socio-cultural Sustainability: A Case of India and China

Abstract

The socio-cultural relationship between India and China reflects centuries of shared heritage, religious exchanges, and artistic collaboration. Despite contemporary political tensions and border disputes, the two nations continue to engage in cross-border cultural diplomacy, heritage preservation, and academic exchange. This chapter explores the historical context of India-China socio-cultural interactions, highlighting key phases such as the Silk Road trade, the spread of Buddhism, and colonial disruptions. It examines the current landscape, emphasizing the role of economic cooperation, tourism, and cinematic collaborations in fostering mutual understanding.
