Towards Sustainable Transition: Holistic Development and Inclusive Transformation of Indian Society by Dr. Zeba Aqil; Dr. Khurshed Alam
India's rich tapestry of cultures, languages, religions, and communities is a testament to its longstanding tradition of multiculturalism. This diversity, while a source of vibrancy and strength, also poses unique challenges, particularly in the realm of social justice. Social justice, defined as the fair and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities, critical in ensuring harmonious coexistence in such a multifaceted society. However, the path to achieving social justice in India is fraught with obstacles, including systemic discrimination, socio-economic disparities, and entrenched biases. The concept of social justice extends beyond mere equality; it encompasses a broader spectrum of ensuring that all individuals have access to the benefits of societal cooperation and can participate fully in the socio-economic life of the nation. In a multicultural society like India, this involves addressing the needs and rights of diverse groups, recognizing their unique identities, and ensuring that no group is marginalized or left behind.
