Abstract
Britain is regarded as the ‘salad bowl’ or ‘melting pot’ of diverse cultures and
languages which transformed Britain’s identity from ‘reluctant Britishness’ to ‘liberal
Britishness’ The current study is an analytical review of multiculturalism in post-war
Britain grappling with the issues of immigrants, nationality, and citizenship provided in
different Asian British Literature, written mostly by the South Asian diaspora. The
study provides an account of the ordeals faced by immigrant communities from
different corners of the world, constantly being targeted by the native British society
merely agreeing that British imperialism has lost its ground. The select diaspora
literature, mostly written by the South Asian community has well-versed
documentation of the concerned issues of the immigrant communities and their quest to
live an equitable social life in Britain.
