Abstract
This chapter explores the role of wearable technology in rehabilitation for various musculoskeletal conditions. It discusses the integration of wearable sensors, smart devices, accelerometers, gyroscopes, electromyography, and robotic exoskeletons in physiotherapy and rehabilitation practices. These technologies facilitate the assessment and monitoring of muscle strength, gait patterns, movement, proprioception, and functional performance. The chapter highlights applications in upper and lower limb rehabilitation, personalized therapeutic interventions, remote monitoring, and patient progress evaluation. It also examines the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and sensor-based feedback to improve diagnostic accuracy and rehabilitation outcomes. Furthermore, it discusses the potential of wearable technologies to enhance patient independence, mobility, and the effectiveness of individualized rehabilitation programmes.
